iSpring 75GPD Review – 5-Stage Reverse Osmosis System

Best iSpring Reverse Osmosis System Review

There are several great reverse osmosis filtration systems out there to choose from, but among the best is the iSpring 75GPD.  Throughout these next few paragraphs I am going to describe how exactly the 75GPD system works as well as go through the 5 stages of filtration.  We’ll also cover what this reverse osmosis system removes so you know exactly what you’ll be getting. We’ll then cover installation and filter replacement. This will help you decide wither or not you’re qualified to pull off the installation of 75GPD system. We’ll then wrap it with the pros and cons, specifications and then my recommendation!

How It Works?

The iSpring 75GPD unit works similar to that of other reverse osmosis systems as it uses your water supplies pressure to force you water through a semi-permeable membrane, which is the reverse osmosis process.  The water is also sent through a number of carbon stages of filtration that remove the larger impurities that could significantly lower the life your RO membrane.

5 Stages

The first stage of the filtration process is a sediment filter, which works as a pre-filter to remove the large particles that are contained in your water source. This could include dirt, sand, rust and anything else that larger than 5 microns.

The second stage in the filtration process is a granulated activated carbon filter that is designed to remove chlorine smell and taste as well as any colors that might reside in your water source.

The third stage is a carbon block filter that is specifically designed to remove any remaining chlorine and color that may have snuck through the first carbon filter. These three filters together will dramatically extend the life of the RO membrane in your unit.

The Fourth stage is the actual RO membrane. This membrane is designed to filter out any particle or impurity that is larger than .001 microns. This stage will dramatically reduce things like fluoride, heavy metals, prescription drugs and germs.

The fifth and final stage of the system is an inline carbon filter that is designed to filter out an remaining gas, taste or odor that the water may have accumulated while going through this process.

What This Filtration System Removes?

This reverse osmosis filtration system is one of the best ways to filter water for drinking. This is because it filters and removes and anything that may affect your waters taste and smell. The iSpring 75GPD uses the 5 stage filtration system to greatly reduce the amount particles and impurities in your homes water source. Some of these include chlorine smell and taste, lead, arsenic, asbestos, fluoride and sediment to just name a few. This system really shines once the water is filtered through the RO membrane as anything under .001 microns is removed.

Ease of Installation

iSpring has designed the 5 stage 75GPD reverse osmosis system to be a reasonably easy install for anyone that is someone handy and has a few tools laying around. All that is required is a screwdriver, pipe wrench and a drill. If you have these tools that is already a great start. Most user report that the installation takes less than one hour to perform and will take up most of the space under your sink. To get a better idea of what the installation looks like, it may be best to check out a Youtube installation video.

Filter Replacement

When it comes to filter replacement, one of the key things to take into consideration is the actually quality of your water supply. This factor plays a large role in the longevity of your filter life. For instance, if you have well water and there are high amounts of sediment, dirt, iron, etc. You may see a much shorter life than someone with a higher quality of water. The 1st – 3rd stage uses a carbon filter, which will last between 6 and 12 months. The 4th stage is the reverse osmosis stage that will last between 2 and 3 years. The 5th stage is the polishing stage that is good for between 9-12 months. All of the filters are easy to change and do not require a call to the plumber.
